As the years pass, our relationship with home begins to shift. It’s no longer just a place to return to. It becomes our retreat, our sanctuary, our soft place to land. We find ourselves longing less for the buzz of the outside world and more for the quiet comfort of a space that reflects who we are. That was the guiding spirit behind the design of this 71sqm 2-bedroom condominium—a home crafted not just to live in, but to truly belong to.

With a clear brief to increase storage without any hacking, the designer took a thoughtful and resourceful approach—starting with the dining area. A custom-built settee bench cleverly doubles as storage, blending form and function seamlessly. More than just seating, this all-in-one unit functions as a dining nook, hidden storage, and even a shoe cabinet. Its clean lines and subtle finishes anchor the space with understated elegance.

But the surprises don’t stop there. In what could have been an uninspired ceiling, the designer introduced soft, curved elements that mirror the gentle arc of the settee below. These curves extend across the false ceiling, artfully disguising the room’s existing beam and elongating the space visually. A slight drop in ceiling height subtly frames the communal area, giving it dimension and intimacy without compromising openness.

This home proves that compact living doesn’t mean compromising on style. With smart spatial planning and an eye for detail, even a modestly sized unit can become a refined, restful haven.
